Frequently Asked Questions:
Do you provide counselling under Medicare (can I get a rebate)?
My counselling services are not funded under Medicare. Unfortunately, the Australian Government only offers Medicare rebates for counselling offered by psychologists and some social workers. This means the services of qualified counsellors and psychotherapists are not subsidised through the Medicare Mental Health Plan, despite their significant contribution as mental health service providers. However you will find that private counselling and therapy generally costs about the same or less per session than the 'out of pocket' portion of many psychologists' fees, even with the Medicare rebate.
Do you provide discounted counselling?
I believe in providing professional therapeutic services that are affordable and accessible. I offer a sliding scale of $85 - 120 per hour for people who have been disadvantaged by the current economic crisis (related to the pandemic or flooding). As a small business owner, I have limited spaces for sliding scale provision. Please contact me to discuss your circumstances.
Do you provide counselling for NDIS participants?
I am not a registered NDIS provider, however if your NDIS Plan is Self Managed or Plan Managed (as opposed to NDIA Managed), you are entitled to use your funding to access a broader network of service providers than those registered with the NDIA. Please contact me to discuss your situation.
Do you provide counselling for Victims of Crime?
I am an Approved Victims Services Counsellor. If you have applied for and received funding for counselling as a victim of crime/s that took place in NSW, please contact me with your Victims Services Reference number.
Can I claim a rebate for counselling from my Private Health Insurance Fund?
There are several private health funds in Australia which offer rebates on counselling/psychotherapy services. I am not currently a registered provider with these funds.
